Akm 320 Setup Mac Ableton

M-Audio presents its Code Series keyboard controllers, a family of three full-featured models, combining all of the production power and performance you need to get the most from your music software and MIDI gear. This guide walks through how to use Mackie Control to set up the M-Audio Code keyboard with Ableton Live.

Hardware Setup
- On the Code, press the EDIT button to enter the Edit Mode
- Hold SHIFT and press the key labeled 'MACKIE/HUI' until the screen reads 'MACKIE'
- Press each Mode button (fader, button, encoder) until the button is lit green. Your keyboard is now in Mackie Mode.
I use an external 27' WQHD monitor, a Thunderbolt 2 dock and I have a 128 GB PNY StorEdge flush SD card always installed (w/ Ableton, Maschine and Komplete libraries on it). I get a LOT out of this setup - 20+ track sessions depending on the plugins and audio vs MIDI tracks.
Assigning the Mackie Control Surface
- Software for Mac and PC Fully USB bus-powered and class compliant; works without drivers or power cable Software for Mac and PC, Including: Ableton Live Lite, XLN Audio Addictive Keys, Novation Bass Station and V Station virtual instruments. Novation now offers a 3-Year Warranty on this and all other Novation products.
- I’ve installed the template properly, selected it in preferences and turned all the correct sections on, selected maschine virtual input and output and finally selected ableton 9 control on Maschine. My pads trigger midi notes but none of the mappings trigger anything in LIVE. I’m running a MK2 on Ableton 9 MAC.
- Open Ableton Live 9 Lite.
- Navigate to the Preferences menu by making the following selections
MAC:
Select Live > Preferences
or use the key command shortcut - [Command + comma]
PC:
Select Options > Preferences
or use the key command shortcut - [Control + comma] - Click on the MIDI Sync tab that is on the left side column.
- In a Control Surface drop-down menu, choose MackieControl.
- In the Input and Output drop-down menus, choose Code 25 (Port 3)(Windows) or Code 25 (Mackie/HUI)(Mac).
- Now in the bottom portion of this same screen under MIDI Ports, locate Input: Code. and Input: MackieControl Input. Turn on Track and Remote for both.
Please note: There is no need to activate Sync or any of the outputs for the Code. If you plan on sending/receiving MIDI data and/or clock from Ableton to the MIDI ports on the Code, you can activate Track, Sync and Remote for the Code (Port 2) input and output. - Exit the Preferences menu. The transport controls, knobs, and faders of the Code will now be mapped out to Ableton.
Ableton 10 on 2008 mac pro. Important Note: If the wrong port is selected as the input and output for the Mackie Control surface, you may experience unresponsive keys, keys opening and closing windows, and/or faders affecting the pitch of your virtual instrument. Simply double-check and re-assign the Mackie Control surface ports to Code 25 (Port 3)for Windows or Code 25 (Mackie/HUI)for Mac.
Control Assignments
The faders, buttons, and encoders all have three different functional modes: Mackie/HUI, MIDI, and HID. To connect with the Mackie Control surface, press each MODE button on the Code until it appears green to indicate the parameters are in Mackie Mode. See the chart below for the parameter assignments in Mackie Mode:
| Code Parameter | Ableton Parameter |

| Record | Record |
| Fast Forward | Fast Forward |

I've just received my Midas u16 in the post, and have spent all afternoon scratching my head as to how to set it up with my current setup (see below)
Motu Ultra-lite mk3
Sync Gen 2 Pro
Telemark + Orberkorn Sequencer
Ableton Live 8
Midas u16 Venice
Ok so I've managed to hook the mixer up via up and send some channels back into ableton via the 1/2, 3/4, 5/6, 7/8, but where it gets confusing is when i start adding external instruments, on the mono channels, how do I pull these through into ableton?
Has anyone got a midas, if so how do they have it setup with ableton, I really want to link this with the sync gen 2 pro but no luck so far, I need to route some of the audio back into the sync gen, i used to do this via 7/8 on my motu..
Please help, I'm new to external mixers so not 100% on how it all works with soundcards + ableton, what are the best ways to set it all up?
